Indeed, gratitude can give you a lot to live for. It will bring happiness and ability in your mind and body. The feeling of gratitude indicates that you observe, acknowledge and appreciate the role of the universe in granting your object of desire. Gratitude is a process consisting of three steps. First, you observe the things around you that you are grateful for, then you acknowledge its presence and importance. Finally, you appreciate by communicating with the giver (physically or spiritually) and this is when you utter the words thank you. Gratitude engages three aspects of the mind. We intellectually recognise the benefit, we willingly acknowledge what we have and emotionally appreciate both the giver and the gift.

People recognise the positive in their life and in others with gratitude. Thankfulness also helps people connect as individuals with something greater than themselves – whether they be other people, nature or a higher force like God. The advantages of practicing gratitude are almost limitless. People who practise gratitude consistently by taking the time to notice things they’re grateful for get pleasant feelings, are more alive and energetic, sleep well, exhibit more compassion and kindness and have even stronger immune systems.

And appreciation isn’t only for special occasions: Sure, you might express gratitude after receiving a high grade in an important test or getting into your dream university, but you can also be thankful for something as simple as the fact that you got to eat all three meals today or that you had a blanket to keep you warm tonight.

There are many tools for gratitude to help you practice it more often. You have a gratitude journal to acknowledge, observe and plan your day to enhance your happiness.
